Rastafari

If you think Rastafari is a group of dread-locked; weed smokin; reggae music bustahs— you’re wrong. Still new to the movement but the feeling of Rastafari seems, not old but, like home. Peace, Oneness, Love, Unity, etc. things that should be instilled in the mind, body, &soul but are often misguided due to an individuals surrounding. Praise Jah for I & I have found a place of comfort in this way of life— Jah ! Rastafari. I’ve come to learn to love myself, be at peace with myself, &respect myself &from that I am able to give it to others as a seed that they may plant within themselves. I cannot trace back to everyone that planted a positive seed in my life but I & I pray to Jah that He may bless each and every one of them no matter how small the seed was. This is where, not only I & I belong, but where all Jahs children on Earth belong. Constantly people look to “fit” into society; but the cost of “fitting” into society is a lost sense of your roots. A classmate of mine had asked me “What’s your religion?” and at this time I was JUST beginning to explore the ways of a Rasta and I said “uhhh, iguess i’m still Christian because I believe Jesus is our Lord & Savior but I don’t really like calling myself a Christian.. I believe in living Rastafari but that’s just a way of life, its not a religion. So I don’t know how to answer your question, I don’t know how to categorize myself” and she looked at me a little surprised and said “You don’t have to categorize yourself”. It was then that I realized the TRUTH ! “Rastafari is a spiritual way of living. They try to put it- it is a way of religion, but it is not. Cause everyone is free to live in spirituality— A calling to what he or she knows is good” -Sister Maria.
